The State Board of Education approved a measure that requires Bible stories be read by public school students.

A Texas education panel has approved plans to make Bible stories mandatory for all public school students in the state.

Critics say the reading list lacks diversity, blurs the separation of church and state that is enshrined in the Constitution and leaves teachers and students with little room to decide what to read.
